Why choosing the varietals Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz?
These varietals have been chosen to launch a first selection of wines in accordance with the generalised preferences of the different countries being targeted at an initial stage. Cabernet Sauvignon is probably the most international varietal and Shiraz is rapidly gaining popularity through the influence of the Australian wines. Tempranillo is a typically Spanish varietal offering wines of excellent quality, both by itself or by "coupage". It is contemplated to introduce other varietals at a later stage, such as Merlot as well as white grape varietals.
Why the name "Volteo Wines"?
We first wanted a word that could be easily pronounced in various languages and that could convey some sort of "Spanishness". Secondly, upon considering different options, we wanted to have a brand name with a story behind it, one that could relate to the wine that is inside the bottle. Volteo is a Olympic discipline that requires exceptional balance and skills, along with a touch of art, and these are things that you also require to make this type of wine.

What differentiates the Volteo Wines from other Spanish wines?
Apart from their innovative presentation, the Volteo Wines have been tailored to suit the palate of most consumers at international level, choosing wines with an adequate balance of nose and palate, easy to drink and with precedence of fruit over wood. They have also been sourced from a region that offers regular and consistent quality, thus avoiding the rather marked differences that can be found between the different vintages from other Spanish wine regions. In summary, these wines are intended to be one of the best purchasing offers both for the connoisseur and for the ordinary consumer.
Why do they have such a different presentation to the typical one of most Spanish wines?
Volteo Wines has been conceived as a range of wines with an international aim, intended to compete with wines from the New World (Australia, Chile, California, South Africa), that are today so very popular in many markets. These wines have established very specific looks in their presentations, accepted by many consumers who feel positively inclined to them for their simplicity, modern and attractive designs and elegant and easily understood labelling. After several different proposals it is felt that the design chosen for the wines Volteo Wines meets with all those characteristics whilst transmitting a clear Spanish / Mediterranean image by means of its attractive label that stands out on the shelves as an artistic creation.
What type of oak is used?
As well as American and French oak, we incorporate the use of Acacia barrels in our ageing. A subtle and perfumed aroma profile is obtained when using this type of wood, and that gives a complex and interesting character that differenciates Volteo from other wines.
Are the VOLTEO Wines with Denomination of Origin?
The Volteo Wines are "Vinos de la Tierra", that means table wines with a Geographic Denomination that are obtained from specific varietals and from a specific production zone, in this particular case from Castilla-La Mancha. These wines are allowed to indicate in their labels their varietals, vintage year and natural or technical conditions of the viticulture used in their production.
What is the difference between these wines and ordinary table wines?
An ordinary table wine does not have a geographic denomination, and therefore can be produced in any place and with whatever type of grape the producer decides to choose, and there is no requirement to indicate these facts in their labels.
Why not using wines with Denomination of Origin?
There are two different gastronomic cultures as regards the identification of a wine; the European model linked to their origin and the American that looks at the varietals. Volteo Wines from "Tierra de Castilla" can satisfy both models, the first one by means of their geographic denomination and the second by the grape varietal that can be mentioned in their labels. The Volteo Wines project having an international scope, has sought for wines that may satisfy consumers throughout the world, without restriction to a particular market.
Is there an official organisation controlling production and labelling of these wines?
Following the Law 11/1999 passed on 26th May of that year that defined the Geographical Denomination of the "Wines from Tierra de Castilla", a series of controls and identification mechanisms have been established to provide additional guarantees to the consumer, avoiding confusions with wines from other origins and defining the rules as regards labelling to contain the corresponding territorial information for their clear identification as wines from Castilla-La Mancha. Therefore only the wines that have been entirely obtained from grapes grown and from the varietals expressly authorised by the above Law will be able to be defined as "Wines from Tierra de Castilla".
Where can I find Volteo?
Our aim is placing Volteo very near from your place, and that is why an ambitious distribution plan is being established to supply both the supermarkets, specialist shops and restaurants.
What sort of foof pairing?
Following the Spanish wine tradition, wines are designed to go with food, and more important, to go with "every" food. Volteo Tempranillo/Cabernet Sauvignon matches red meat dishes in grilled or roasted syle, as well as poultry and pasta. Volteo Tempranillo /Shiraz accompanies spicy food and also rice dishes and rich and meaty fish, such as tuna and salmon.
